Mangaluru, Jun 21: In a rare occurrence, four distinguished persons who were recently honoured with doctorates, will be felicitated on July 7 at town hall.
Addressing media here on Tuesday June 21, felicitation convenor Ivan D’Souza said, “It is an infrequent instance, where four eminent persons have been conferred upon with a doctorate degree at a time. The achievers are Dr Yenepoya Abdul Kunhi, Dr Hemavathi V Hegde, Dr Harikrishna Punnoru and Dr Devadas Kapikad.”
Ivan claimed that this was indeed a privilege to felicitate these esteemed personalities. He said, “We must glorify this achievement of theirs and the trailblazers would set an example for the rest of the people.
“The committee is in charge of organizing the ceremony. As envisioned, we greatly look forward to honouring these notable personalities and hope that their achievement can inspire lot many to do so. The events have been planned. As planned, we must ensure that their contribution to the society grows in leaps and bounds and also influence others to achieve the same. They must work towards the betterment of the society.” he said.
He also added that they faced several issues while planning this event. They were apprehensive of whether the chosen persons would reply in positive or negative.
He further said, “Through this event, we can greatly influence many others to achieve immense success in their lives.” He wished that that this celebratory event would be graced by all. He also said that the prime objective for conducting the event was to recognize the feat achieved by these notable pioneers, to inspire the younger generation.
The felicitation programme will be graced by district in charge minister Sunil Kumar, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA U T Khader, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Dr Bharath Y Shetty, mayor Premananda Shetty, former union minister Veerappa Moily, chancellor of NITTE university Dr Vinaya Hegde and others.
