Acrobatic performances by Munis and Navas, a cricket match of elephants, and fire dance performance by five Kenyan youth are the highlights of the circus this time around.
Apart from that, at the inaugural show, foot juggling, rope skipping pole, human pyramid also kept the audience on the edge of their seats, while camels, parrots and puppies added to the excitement.
Perhaps the most amazing act of the show was of an artiste swallowing a sharp sword and pulling it out, flashing a wide smile at the stunned audience. The aerial trapeze acts by skillful acrobats were performed with perfect coordination. The circus troupe includes young boys and girls also.
The organizers expect the government to extend as much support to the circus as it does to other forms of art, said Shree Hari Nair, media coordinator.
The circus attracted a good number of people on its very first day. More crowd is expected on weekends. Humorous performances by clowns provided a great deal of enjoyment, especially to the young. It is two-and-a-half hours of non-stop fun. Ticket rates are Rs 40, Rs 70, Rs 100 and Rs 150.
