Udupi, Jun 29: The members of Sahabalve Udupi and Pro- social organizations federation staged protest in front of Martyr's memorial ground Ajjarkad here on Tuesday, June 28, condemning the arresting of social activist Teesta Setalvad and former IPS officer Sreekumar.
K Paniraj, a pro-social activist and leader said, "There is lack of legal knowledge in the police department. A renowned Indian journalist Teesta raised voice against the government. As a resulted of that, she has been arrested by Gujarat police. This is purely misusing of law. The government had done injustice to her, who stood for seeking justice. Modi led government had been waiting for her arrest."
Balakrishna Shetty said, "The government is becoming sovereign and taking over all the administration into its hand. The Supreme Court had also done injustice in the case of Teesta. If anyone stood against the government, they would be arrested or cause their life. Both the Union and State government are ruling in an undemocratic manner. There is a need for severe protest. A second freedom fight has to be started. The Government of India is misleading the youth in the name of Agnipath."
Sundar Master, DSS leader said, "The government is attracting the attention youth by calling for Agnipath, which will become RSS team in future. The government will use them as weapons."
The protestors demanded the immediate release of journalist Teestha and Sreekumar and give them justice.
