Udupi, Jun 30: Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai has directed the finance department to release the pending salaries for the staff of the Koosamma Shambhu Shetty Memorial Haji Abdullah Mother & Child Hospital here.
MLA K Raghupathi had appealed to the chief minister to release the pending salaries of the health officers and the staff of the hospital.
Responding to the appeal, Bommai, in a letter, has directed the finance department to release salaries through a conditional letter.
Earlier, Koosamma Shambhu Shetty Memorial Haji Abdullah Mother & Child Hospital was run by the B R Shetty Health and Research Institute, Bengaluru. During this time, as the salaries were not paid on time and the hospital was not properly managed, the hospital was completely handed over to the government.
In this regard, a district-level review committee headed by the deputy commissioner was formed, and a report on essential doctors and staff for the hospital and pending salary of Rs 2,28,33,608 was prepared.
As the doctors and other staff had approached MLA Raghupathi Bhat with a memorandum, he had met the chief minister and discussed the issue.
MLA Raghupathi Bhat has thanked the chief minister for his response.
