Heavy rain: Holiday declared for educational institutions in Mangaluru, Udupi on Jul 1

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 30: As incessant rain is likely to lash the district, Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner (DC) Dr K V Rajendra and Udupi DC Kurma Rao M declared a holiday on Friday July 1 for all the educational institutions.

The India Meteorological Department declared an orange alert in the district on Friday. Hence, the DC has declared a holiday for the educational institutions.

As heavy rain lashed the district resulting in artificial flooding in parts of the district, the DC declared a holiday for the educational institutions on Thursday June 30.

Udupi DC declared a holiday for all schools and colleges including Anganwadi. All the private and government schools, colleges and degree colleges will remain close on Friday July 1 due to heavy rainfall which is expected.

    Hope our college students are happy this time because, even they got holiday. Many colleges got holiday today afternoon itself. Sit at home and dont go out for adventures near wells, rivers, ponds or picnic etc. Sit and study ..May god bless all our young force....
