Bangalore: JDS to File Complaint against CM Kin on Alleged IT Evasion
Bangalore, Mar 21, (PTI): JDS leader H D Kumaraswamy today said he would file a complaint before Income Tax Department and Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee over alleged IT evasion by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa's family members.
"I will be filing the complaint within a week with documentary evidence", Kumaraswamy said at a media conference here, a day after Yeddyurappa hurled charges against him.
Irked over Yeddyurappa's allegations that a trust owned by Kumaraswamy's brother H D Balakrishna had received Rs 250 crore as donation from the mining sector and 164 Bangalore Development Authority sites were allotted to his (Kumaraswamy) relatives when he was Chief Minister, the JDS leader challenged the Chief Minister to produce documentary evidence.
"I have been exposing the corruption of Yeddyurappa and his family with documentary evidence.Let Yeddyurappa also do the same without resorting to baseless charges",he said.
Continuing to target Yeddyurappa, Kumaraswamy came up with a fresh set of allegations that he denotified 221.34 acres in 106 cases during October 2008 to October 2010 and made financial gains to the extent of Rs 500 crore.
The value of these denotified lands is Rs 3768.90 crore, the JDS leader said. Some of the Congress leaders also benefitted from these denotification of lands, he alleged.
B J Puttaswamy, the political Secretary to the Chief Minister, had on March 19 charged Kumarswamy with denotifying 193 acres and causing Rs 2,000 crore loss to the BDA.
Kumaraswamy refuted allegations that his family members had purchased denotified land and later sold it for higher prices, but however admitted that he denotified 273 acres when he was the chief minister.
He also rejected the charge that it was during his tenure the Bhadra irrigation project was approved and the contract awarded to RNS Infrastructure consortium and he released "documents" to support his charge that all these approvals were done in 2008 by Yeddyurappa.
Kumaraswamy lashed out at Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily for his reported adverse remarks on the functioning of Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde. Moily had yesterday told Hegde that he had been misquoted by the media.
