Bengaluru, Jul 9: The State Government is launching separate medical testing service for men on a pilot basis in Malleswaram and Ramanagara shortly.
Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru on Saturday, Higher Education Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan said he held discussions with Dr Vasan of Ankur Health Care on the need for starting a separate medical treatment and examination facility for men, which when implemented will be the first of its kind in the country.
He said the novel facility will be started in a Primary Health Care Centre in the Malleswaram assembly constituency, which is represented by him, and also in Ramanagara under his charge.
Dr Narayan said generally the men were not availing medical treatment despite suffering from various kinds of health problems. Therefore, it is decided to try to address the problem through private and public participation.
Depending on the success of the programme being launched on a pilot basis in Malleswaram and Ramanagara, the facility will be extended to other parts of the State, he said adding: Dr Vasan will provide medical examination facilities through his Ankur Health Care.
Diabetes, Cancer and Neuro ailments and bone complications were found to be the most common ailments among men, Dr Narayan said and pointed out that work related tensions and pressures, smoking, drinking and unscientific food habits were the main causes of most of the problems.
The scheme will try to solve lifestyle changes and problems related to food habits and offer suggestions, he said.
With main being the main bread earners in most of the families, it is necessary to create public awareness and prevent health complications and the consequent financial stress, he said.
