Puttur: Baby elephant carcass found near rivulet

Puttur, Jul 10: The carcass of a male elephant calf was found on the banks of Gundya rivulet neart Chowdeshwari temple of Shiradi village near Uppinangady.

The area where the carcass is found falls under the limits of Kempuhole reserved forest area under Sakleshpur zone.

The calf is said to be five months old. It is suspected that it must have slipped off the hill while moving with mother elephant in search of food or got washed away in the water while crossing the rivulet.
