Kasargod, Jul 10: In a tragic incident that occurred at Kattunkavala Churuthil on Malnad highway on the morning of Saturday morning, a bike rider lost his life as the Kerala State bus (KSRTC) moved backwards after the driver lost control and crushed the bike rider who was following the bike from rear end.

Kappal Makel Joshi (45), resident of Etithat and rubber tapping labourer, is the unfortunate victim of this mishap.

One portion of the road had collapsed few days ago due to rain. So only one part of the road was allowed to be used by vehicles. Passengers had to board the bus at an elevated point. When the KSRTC driver stopped the bus for the passengers to board, it slipped and moved back and hit the bike rider who was tailing from rear end.

Though Joshi, who was stuck underneath the bus was rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to the injuries.

    again peril of living in countries with no traffic rules and safety....in dubai buses have seperate parking area by the side where they pick up passengers..no stopping on the road....but lesser said the better...now someone will say go to Dubai..i would have but they do not give citizenship...worked for many years though....RIP brother...

    This was totally an avoidable accident that took place due to the negligence of the bus staff. Whenever a heavy vehicle is stopped on a steep ascent, they should place a wooden block stopper behind the rear wheel. In olden days all heavy vehicles had to have on board that stopper block and the person who placed that block was affectionately called a ಕಟ್ಟೆ ಕಂಡಕ್ಟರ್. If that procedure was followed this mishap would not have happened. RIP the unfortunate motorcycle rider.
