Jammu and Kashmir's top officials assure to resume Amarnath Yatra soon

Jammu, Jul 10: As 40 pilgrims still missing after natural disaster Jammu and Kashmir's top officials have assured to resume Amarnath Yatra soon.

Around 15,000 pilgrims have been shifted to the lower base camp by authorities. Authorities have appealed the pilgrims to come and assured all facilities will be provided.

At least 16 people died after a flash flood after heavy rains near the Amarnath Shrine in south Kashmir.

The disaster occured on Friday evening. The pilgrimage has been suspended from Jammu due to harsh weather conditions.

The annual 43-day pilgrimage commenced from the twin base camps -- Nunwan-Pahalgam in south Kashmir's Anantnag and Baltal in central Kashmir's Ganderbal -- on June 30.
