Bantwal, Jul 11: A huge water storage tank at Uppugudde under the limits of the town municipality is on the verge of collapsing.

It is in a precarious state now with a hole at its base.

The officials of Bantwal town municipality and village accountant rushed to the spot and used plastic sheets as a temporary precautionary measure. Town municipality officials are also getting the water in the tank emptied to reduce the load.

Continuous rains have become a cause of concern for the nearby residents.

    I cant believe this.See the picture.If any first class student is there he can tell.what is wrong here .Dont blame the rain .Blame the dirty work they did.Immediately empty half of tank to save it from collapsing ..why plastic cover as precautionary measure ?.That you can use to when raining.at home.Immediately you try to bring big stones around it so that it doesnt collapse.They have completely emptied ot taken out mud underneath or around the tank .Who did this job unprofessionel? Basis of tank should be secured before you fill the tank.OR best is pour enough mud and stones where empty surface is seen.You blame rain when it doesnt come .when comes also blame .But your work should be done as it should be.

    Lot of critical civil engineering installations are old and need constant inspection/preventive maintenance... We have the age old water tank in Ajjarkad, Udupi... It used to be our recreational spot where we used to climb atop during childhood days... It is not looking to be in great shape...

    Chitra vichitra .....govt employees.....carelessness. They make their house safe and sound by carrying from here 40 % plus gst bst st cst and kasti...if collapses govt releases money again ಕಳಪೆ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಕೆ......again 40% adds to their benami account....if you have time visit mini vidhana saudha in Mangaluru and see how they perform and what boards they display outside the wall....!! 🤬🤬🤬
