Bangalore: Suvarna Soudha in Belgaum to be Inaugurated in July

Bangalore, Mar 25: Suvarna Soudha, the building being built on the model of Bangalore’s Vidhana Soudha, in Belgaum will be ready for inauguration in July.

The monsoon of the State Legislature will be held at the newly inaugurated Suvarna Soudha building in Belgaum from the coming July, according to Karnataka’s Public Works Minister C M Udasi.

Construction work of the building was taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 230 crore and Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa laid the foundation stone for the Suvarna Soudha at Halagabastavadi, about 15 km from Belgaum on Bangalore-Pune Highway, about two years ago.

Udasi said a Rs 50 crore special package had been prepared for Kodagu district for development of roads in that district.

A sum of Rs 235 crore had been released for development of roads in Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe colonies in the state while Rs 100 crore had been released for providing road connectivity from an airport in Shimoga to Sringeri Temple and Rambhapuri Math in the district.

Karnataka Road Development Corporation Limited (KRDL) would develop 702 km roads by spending Rs 1692 crore in various districts, the minister said.

A sum of Rs 1070 crore had been released for developing roads in backward taluks identified by the High Power Committee on Regional Imbalances headed by late economist D M Nanjundappa, he said.
