Abu Dhabi, Mar 27: The UAE Amchigele Samaj organised a picnic-cum-sports day at Baniyas Park here on Friday March 25.
The event was attended by over 200 members from all over UAE. The managing committee had organised three buses for commutation of the members to Abu Dhabi.
The families enjoyed the drive, engaging themselves with games, anthakshari etc. The members were charged up by the time they reached Baniyas Park wherein more than 50 members from Abu Dhabi joined them.
The sports events, under various categories, were then flagged-off. Members from the age group of 2 to 72 years took active part in the competitions, which proves the sportive spirit of Amchigeles.
The entire morning session was devoted to sports events, after which everybody dashed off to the lunch table to have a delicious spread of food.
After lunch, the fun and frolic continued wherein members enjoyed with their family and friends, played cricket, handball and other games. Late in the afternoon, when the members were tired, the committee organised a session of housie. After the housie game, prizes for the winners were distributed by Ramchandra Hedge, Chandrakant Kini, Ajith Nayak and other committee members.
President Ajith Nayak delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the managing committee. He thanked Ramdas Kamath, Abu Dhabi, Sudarshan Hegde, Ramdas Kini and Sandeep Prabhu for their sponsorships towards the day’s events.
He then briefed all the members on the forthcoming events of the Samaj like the talents day, Bhajan Sandhya, blood donation camp, puja and annual day. He also explained the social responsibility work that the Samaj had initiated for educating the needy children of the Samaj through the Eklavya Project that was successfully implemented last year.
He also wholeheartedly thanked Chandrakanth Kini, Narsimha Kudva, Ganesh Nayak and the Abu Dhabi volunteering team for all the excellent arrangements done by them at the venue and Pragati Shenoy and Geetha Nayak for organising the events. He further thanked all the remaining committee members and all other members of the Samaj who contributed towards the event.
