Udupi: Public throng Malpe beach to look for gold amidst garbage

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Jul 18: People are thronging beach at Malpe near here in search of gold amidst the garbage that has washed ashore.

This sight is very common during monsoon. More than 35 lac tourists visit Malpe beach every year. Many lose golden ornaments while playing or swimming in water. In certain religious traditions, gold is also put into the sea.

The gold and silver ornaments lost or put in the sea by the tourists gets washed ashore during monsoon along with the heap of garbage due to the high waves. These waves bring out everything at the bottom of the sea and put them on the shore.

So it is very common to see locals searching for gold and silver ornaments. But no one discloses whether they have got such ornaments or not. Secrecy is maintained in this business too like others.

Sea never throws out gold silver diamond etc. For diamond pearls we have to search underneath of seas. This is for your kind information. We Indians respect sea as Ganga.

While we were in Mumbai and my son was unmarried, he had many hobbies during weekends and holidays. One time, he purchased a metal detector with a handle to search for metals. He paid about Rs 35000 for it. He and his friends went to Chawpaty and Juhu beaches many mornings with that machine. He never got any gold. What he got is only some old coins. Now, that machine is lying in my house in Mumbai. He advertised to sell the machine. When he told the people, they want the machine, but no one is prepared to pay that much money. It is a white elephant now. May be, at Malpe beach people are finding gold. Good luck for them.
