Seoul, Jul 18 (IANS): South Korea reported 26,299 new Covid cases as of midnight Sunday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 18,788,056, the health authorities said Monday.
The daily caseload was down from 40,342 in the previous day on fewer virus tests over the weekend, but it doubled from 12,681 tallied a week earlier, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA).
For the past week, the daily average number of confirmed cases was 37,660, Xinhua news agency reported.
Among the new cases, 319 were imported from overseas, lifting the total to 39,502.
The number of infected people who were in a serious condition stood at 81, up 10 from the previous day.
Eleven more deaths were confirmed, raising the death toll to 24,753. The total fatality rate was 0.13 per cent.
