Unscheduled power cuts become common in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi during monsoon

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru/Udupi (SS)

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 20: There is no official or unofficial load shedding in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi according to Mescom officials. But, for some reason or the other every home experiences power outages especially in the rural areas due to rains and winds although the situation may be better in the urban areas of the districts.

According to Mescom officials, the primary reason for power cuts is the monsoon and citizens are experiencing unscheduled power cuts.

There is no end to unscheduled power cuts in the taluks of Sullia, Puttur, Kadaba, Beltangady, Bantwal, Moodbidri and Mulki where citizens face power outages at least five to ten times daily.

The story is the same in the taluks of Byndoor, Kundapura, Brahmavar, Hebri and Karkala. Before the onset of monsoon itself, Kaup and Shirva taluks experienced problems pertaining to power supply which has not been rectified and they are not experiencing load shedding. But, they are mainly maintenance issues, say Mescom officials.

Villagers feel that if maintenance issues are taken care of then power outages could be reduced.

True...Gods plans and our plans are different. It happens what has to happen and not according to how we want to set our life. Even prayers/sacrifices/retreats/good works do not help to fulfil our plans. This is my opinion and my experience.....Now i believe zalmalli vel ghadi....

(i assume, you must be tall around 6") " indicates Inches ' foot no pbroblem. I am not so tall medium 5' 6" (168 cm) weight is steady for the past 15 year68 Kg. I had lumbar problem for 30 years and in 2010 I had a bad sneeze while making omlet (black pepper powder ) I happened to sneeze in such a way my vertebra 4 - 5 collapsed due to wear & tear process. Terrible pai. Doctors advised me that due collapsed vertebras a gap increased my centre nerve got protruded out so i need a surgery to place the nerve at right position. It was critical surgery almost 12 hours. they have fixed a plutonium rod and clamps on my hip bone (both side). Thank God I recovered fully but i am careful not to lift heavy things. Always take support of my knees. I did the surgery in a leading private hospital which cost me 10,000 KD. (money comes and goes) but physical health is important.

Melody ye choclateeyee....eat eat eat what you like and have cravings. Cut down snacks in the morning eat fruits....afternoon proper lunch with veg/salad/meat..fish/one spoon rice....Night instead of snacks like parota/bread have vegetables and salads and also fruits. I was not aware about your low back surgery.....(i assume, you must be tall around 6") Because of the height and weight ......problems in low back (lumbar) are common.... Anyways i am not a doctor. So avoid ground exercises and go for walking....how much you can and what speed is depending on your stamina and of course taking into consideration of your lower back surgery. Avoid complications....Food control is the main contribution in the field of health. You know more than me. My knowledge very little like yedya voda daryanthlya udkanthle kadlya kubya shimpiyenth borche title.....Anyway i salute you....Stay blessed....

Cynthia, Those days in M'lore 3 times Rice. Morning ganji, Lunch Rice and fish curry & veg. Dinner again Rice. But that habit totally got changed for better. Rice meal afternoon and night. Now a days I have rice hardly once a week. (with fish or chicken curry. Morning & night snacks, brad butter plain Parata. (not money saving intention but to control intake) Till 55 yrs I was regular taking a brisk walk on hour and some ground work. These days everything is slowing down. Aging process. Less food more fruits.

Your health diet is good. Keep it up. Avoid parota/bread...(if bread is made of wheat fine) but not maida. Add more of salads. Whatever it is please take 20/30 minutes walk everyday...dont skip walking. One spoon rice is needed everyday ...carbohydrates too necessary. Sweets/sugar/pastries etc avoid . .Take sunlight for vit D/d³....I mean to say walk when you get sunlight.....

In Ahmedabad where I was staying earlier in 50 years there were power cuts only 5 times and we were informed in advance about it . It was AEC ( Ahmedabad Electricity Company) then ,now known as Torrent Power. Both the CEO Mr Coelho and his deputy Mr Pai were from Mangalore!!! Why the same cannot happen in thier hometown now?

There is no one taking responsibility in Udupi especially the MLA and the Chief Minister. Why does MESCOM cut off power supply at will be it the monsoon or summer season. In a big metropolitan city like Bombay that has 23million people never face power cuts even in the worst monsoon storms. So why does a tiny town Udupi have so much erratic power cuts. Is MESCOM responsible for such power cuts or Adani Co. that generates the power supply from their units in Padubidri. Why are the people so laid back to constantly depend on their power inverters and gen sets for so many years without any improvement or without resorting to shutting power off thus giving such poor service to the people and population of Udupi. Why can’t the elite and influential and responsible people ask MESCOM why and what is it doing and how is it serving the people of Udupi.

But let the KEB ofice not put the telephone off the hook. When there is no power in a particular locality all of a sudden the residents enquire with the KEB office but the phone is off the hook. The residents would know the reason and for how long, but when there is no one to answer, God should save us. This is worse than not having power.
