Udupi: Thinker, social activist Rajashekar passes away at 75

Udupi, Jul 21: Senior thinker, writer, critic and pro-people activist, resident of Kolambe G Rajashekar (75) died due to illness at a private hospital in the city on Wednesday July 20.

Rajshekhar was suffering from Parkinson Plus, a rare disease. He was hospitalized due to lung issues. He was in critical condition in ICU and succumbed to the disease.

Rajashekhar was always on the forefront of struggles of communalism. He had written several fact finding reports after visiting places where communal violence took place. He was always fighting for the rights of Dalits, oppressed class and other social groups who are marginalised. He was known for is straight talk and analysis. For the activists and social workers of coastal districts, he was a friend and guide.

Rajashekhar is survived by wife, two sons and scores of his friends. His final rites will be held on the morning of Thursday, July 21 as per family sources.
