Very very sad.Noone knows what was the reason or dont want to tell?Nothing is clear.Biggest failure is when her condition is bad move her to another hospital instead of giving intensive care on the spot. When this facility is not there they should close the hospital instead of a maternity hospital. What was wrong ?Heavy bleeding ?was any rupture during delivery or pressure was fallen down ?was there no intensive care management?May her soul rest in peace.Feel pity on the baby now became motherless on the day of birth.Heartfelt sympathy to the family.

There is urgent need of a good government medical college in both Udupi and DK. This should eb established as we need to improve health care in the twin Districts of both Udupi and DK

Kusuma, awareness also needs to be increased regarding risks, precautions, nutrition, hygiene etc to be taken pre and postpartum times! Also; if they set up private hospitals, most middle class people would not be able to afford the high charges?

RIP! Very unfortunate incident. Probably the nursing home was not competent enough to closely monitor and tackle postpartum problems like severe hypertension, bleeding, or acute uterine infection. Again a very sad news from Puttur!

Puttur is second largest city in D.K. However, the medical facilities are still needs improvement. It is difficult to find a good paediatrician or an ortho consultant doctor in Puttur. These are my personal experiences. For a slightest of complications patients are sent to Mangalore, just to avoid complications. Puttur needs a multi speciality hospital or a medical college. There are so many medical colleges in Mangalore, the government should have allocated one in or around Puttur. People who are living in other end of the district, far from Mangalore will have to travel more than 100KMs to reach Mangalore in case of emergency as well. Forget about road conditions.

You can't call Puttur a city, it's a big town. Agree that there is not even a single tertiary care hospital around and most seriously ill patients succumb by the time they are rushed to Mangalore for specialized treatment!
