Mangaluru, Jul 26: Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar gave clarification regarding the pub attack that took place in the city on Monday July 25 night. He further assured to probe the incident.
Speaking to media, the commissioner said, “Recycle restaurant cum pub in Balmatta is functioning since many years. On Monday at 9 pm, five to six youths of a Hindu organization visited the pub. They told bouncer Dinesh at the pub that there are minor boys and girls in the pub. Dinesh informed the matter to the manager and the manager went inside and checked.
“There were a few students of a local college. When the manager asked the students to go out, they left the pub. According to the statement of the bouncer, the Hindu workers did not go inside the pub. They only spoke to the bouncer outside the pub and went away.
“We will verify the CCTV footage and take action accordingly. We have taken the statements of the manager and the bouncer of the pub. There is no opportunity for outsiders to enter the premises of the pub and question things. No one has the right to ask for ID and licence except the concerned authority. We will take action after taking into consideration all points.
“This action of Hindu workers has occurred in the wake of the recent obscene video of college students that went viral. But there is no relation between the students in that video and this incident.
“The students who were in the pub were students of final year degree. According to the rules of the pub, anyone above the age of 21 can enter. So we will gather information and then take action,” said the commissioner.
