Udupi: Four arrested for theft, items worth Rs 2.90 lacs seized

Udupi, Jul 26: Police have arrested four persons for allegedly stealing 80 sheets and about six pillar boxes brought for the centering work from a construction site in Tenkanidooru.

The accused are Deepak (19) of Puttur village, Sagar (36) of Mooduthonse village in Kalyanpur, Imthiyaz A (39) of Parangipet in Bantwal and Mohd Iqbal of Pakkaladka in Mangaluru.

The complainant Umesh, a resident of Tenkanidooru, in his complaint stated that the items were stolen from his neighbor Jayanthi's site where they were loaded for centering work. The accused had stolen 80 centering sheets worth Rs 1,10,000 out of the 600 sheets kept there and four pillar box sets from the spot.

The case was registered in Malpe station.

The police have also seized a goods vehicle and two-wheeler worth Rs 1, 80, 000 used for the theft from the accused apart from the loot.

The court has remanded them to judicial custody.
