First they should keep city and environment clean. Second they should fix roads and flooding situation. Third demarcate residential, commercial and industrial areas and make sure these are being followed strictly. So many improvement need to be done then only such flag hoisting will have some meaning.

Now by regularising polyester flags, there will be a glut in the market of Chinese make flags which are nonbiodegrable; and in the absence of awareness of the flag code in the general population, there is high possibility that the large numbers of national flags will not be disposed off in a respectful manner as described in the flag code!! Also it's a loss for the khadi industry!!

Earlier, the tricolour could be hoisted only between sunrise and sunset. In an earlier amendment dated December 30, 2021, the government had allowed the use of machine-made and polyester flags. Previously, such flags were not allowed to be used. The money being spent on this campaign if spent to feed the poor, the sense of humanity and patriotism will be created by itself by the people towards the country.

2 years back it wasThali, diya and mombathi. Now flag too is used for propaganda rather than real patriotism. Who is letting in foreign controlled business tycoons to usurp of our national properties one by one, that too by granting huge loans from public sector banks without any security? What about inflation ruining people's lives? What about fuel loot? Huge unemployment since 45 years, people are commiting suicides with bleak future. Can anybody celebrate with joy being subjected to all the sufferings since 2014? Who has to foot the bill for this expenditure? Any answers to solve the problems facing the nation or sirf Bashans for people and doles for rich and politicians?

Respect and patriotism to the flag and country comes only from one's heart and intentions. It cannot be forced on anyone nor created. It is useless and makes no sense if a person hoists the flag who cheats the country by not paying taxes/taking bribes/ faking and on the other hand there might be a person who lives by stealing to make his living and does not hoist the flag, but has deep respect to it. Who is better? Do you even know that the Indian Flag should be lowered before sunset as a sign of respect and dignity?

I feel this is a wonderful initiative. The tricolour represents a true India of unity. It shows how each of us of different religious, cultural, linguistic and historic backgrounds live harmoniously in a peaceful, loving, democratic country. These our the qualities engraved in our constitution which makes our Mother India the pride of each of its citizens.

Samuel Johnson, who compiled the English dictionary once said: “Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel.” Meaning that any crime and any misbehaviour was tolerated as long as it was committed by one who kept shouting that he loved his country.

Living an honest life and leading by example by politicians is the most sincere way to celebrate Amrith Mahotsav. All such drama is being forced on the people since politicians are not honest citizens and to distract the people with a sense of false pride.

Disagree with you chandra. Can u be a patriot Just by hoisting flag? Patriotism is something huge. Sincerity towards our country and its people and instilling patriotism thereby. But our leaders show patriotism on the outside and are corrupt inside.
