Beltangady: 54-year-old man falls into drain while crossing, dies

Beltangady, Jul 29: A man died after he fell into a drain while crossing it at Indabettu in the taluk on July 27 night.

The deceased is identified as Poovappa (54), a resident of Baramelu in Indabettu village. He had gone to shop at around 2 pm on July 27. As he was returning, he fell into the drain while crossing it as he slipped.

Family members started searching for Poovappa as he did not return from shop till evening. Around 9 pm they saw the mortal remains of Poovappa in the drain.

As it was raining heavily on the night of Wednesday, he must have fell into the drain and died due to drowning as per the complaint filed by his family members at Beltangady police station.
