Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jul 30: As the district is experiencing heavy rains with thunderstorm and lightening, a holiday has been declared for schools and colleges on Saturday July 30.

Considering the safety of children throughout Mangaluru corporation limits, Mulky, Moodbidri, Ullal and Bantwal taluk, holiday has been given to all the anganawadi centers, primary and high schools on Saturday.

Holiday was declared to colleges too in Mangaluru City Corporation limits due to flash floods where many of the roads are inundated with rainwater.

Tahsildars and BEOs can take appropriate decision in Puttur on the rain situation, informed the authorities.

As Mr. Prabhu suggested communication to parents/students must be made so that they do not come to school only to go back home... Also it wouldn't be a bad idea to have classes online during rains so that teachers also can breathe relief... Schools must allow teachers to conduct online classes from their homes like during covid time... Now a days electricity disruptions have reduced and classes can be managed by giving advance exercises to children to carry out during power cuts... Also practical sessions can be rescheduled... This will avoid Sundays and holidays being denied to teachers and students...

Very good decision. But the announcement regarding our DC's should be changed. All education institutions must collect Mobile numbers of each STUDENTS and their PARENTS without fail. When DC'S want to declare holiday, he must give press statements, AND AT THE SAME TIME HE MUST SEND THE MESSAGES TO THE HEAD OF THE INSTITUTION, AND PRINCIPAL OR HEAD MASTER , IMMEDIATELY FORWARD THE SAME MESSAGE TO ALL STUDENTS AND PARENTS MOBILE. Just now I saw many students are going to schools. They are not aware of the holiday itseems. If DC take above steps , one or other at home will receive the messages.
