Karnataka serial killings: Muslim bodies slam Bommai govt for 'partial' treatment

Dakshina Kannada (Karnataka), Jul 31 (IANS): Muslim organisations have slammed the preferential treatment of the ruling BJP government in terms of providing compensation to families of slain Muslim and Hindu youths in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka.

Following the death of Praveen Kumar Nettare, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai visited the family and issued a cheque of Rs 25 lakh as compensation from the government. The party had also given Rs 25 lakh separately to the victim's family.

However, CM Bommai did not visit the family of Masood, who was killed by a gang of eight persons. Masood's family lived 5 kilometers away from Praveen's residence. The family of Mohammad Fazil Mangalpet, who was brutally killed after Praveen's murder, has also not received any compensation.

The Muslim Central Committee has decided to provide Rs 30 lakh compensation each to the bereaved families of Masood and Fazil. The committee has slammed CM Bommai and ruling BJP for paying visit only to Praveen's residence and not bothering to sympathise with the other two families.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Karnataka unit has stated that the ruling BJP is adopting a divide and rule policy. Its state chief Dr Mohammad Saad Belagami has stated that due to the partial treatment of the ruling BJP, fundamentalist organisations are getting empowered. The government should treat all communities on an equal basis, he said.

I have never seen such CM in indian history like Hitler Bommai. He thinks money given to people who were killed due to politics is from his pocket. Its sjame that being a CM of a state Bommai is showing partiality in compensating dead people. Mr. Bommar do you think that only lives of Hindus is respected by your Govt and lives of miniroties is taken for granted. What kind of CM you are. YOu are doing injustice. YOu are not follwoinng Raj Dharma and hence you are unfit to continue as CM. You should step down immediaely as you are not doing justice to people. Do you think life of muslims has no value. Faazi and Masood are killed by sangh parivar activists and you belong to same gr0up. YOu should respect the post of CM and treat all citizens equal. Partiality do not suit to this post. YOu will lose respect in the public. Carry out your resposilibities with due respect treating all citizens as equal. If you want to give priority to some, donate money from your own pocket and not from tax payers hard earned money.

We have a million strong army other defence forces .. Nuclear etc .. Now not to suggest showmanship.. flexing muscles ... But ruling dispensation trying divisive politics inspite of these Strengths ... May invent next invasion from Mars ... Their myopic aspirations are Uttarpradesh model .. Instead of being software capital ...Global manufacturing etc Earlier we had at least Singapore model ..

The people should understand that this is a pre planned and deliberate action on the part of the BJP government through Bommai to demarcate the line between the two communities. This is clearly being done with elections in mind.

Why is our HC court silent on these important matters? It is tax payer's money and pay for every tragedy and not pay selectively.

CM Bommai has already made it clear that any attacks on Hindu activists will be dealt stringently. That makes clear that only theHinsu activists interest will be are taken care. Is that clear to all.

Compensation is blood money which the government pays on behalf of the taxpayer. Nowhere in the world, as I understand it, does this. It should rather be collected as a "victim surcharge" recoverable from the murderers and their assets. Government is sending a wrong message by compensating the families of victims unless the deceased was a the bread earner for the families and were deprived of their livelihood. The murderers get their reward in jail.

Prabhumaam, here I agree with you totally. However, I want to remind you that the government is compensating the victims of one community only. No comments on that?

Did these organisations visit Praveen's residence? Hypocrisy at its best. And as far as the fundamental organization is conserned, don't worry this govt knows how to handle these terrorists.

If he provides compensation to Fazil and Masood's family, he might loose few votes and get backlash from some people. Fear of criticism doesn't allow him to compensate other two families.
