Mangaluru, July 31: About 200 people have been detained by the police across the commissionerate as a precautionary measure and close to 90 vehicles have been seized at various locations during the night vigil on Sunday, July 31.

The district administration has been maintaining a tight vigil in the city following the recent serial murders of Masood, Praveen Nettare and Mohammad Fazil.

Prohibitory orders have been clamped and enforced in the city with police posted at 19 checkposts at various locations. Checking of vehicles passing through these checkposts has been intensified and a strict vigil is being maintained so that no untoward incident occurs in the city.

Evening curfew has been clamped in the city and will remain in force till August 3 morning. Shops and business establishments will continue to remain closed from 6 pm to 6 am during the period.

The police are likely to release the seized vehicles to the owners after verification on Monday.

Improvement, special training is required to our police force, specially to CID cell. While imposing section 144 and curfew, the common man is suffering the most. Crime and drug menace of our state need to be wiped out.

People will not understand and improve, unless our Police Commissioner must give those, whomever it maybe, punishment they should not forget till thei lifetime. The punishment should be ask them to clean our city for a week along with Antony Garbage cleaners team.I think that maybe the best treatment..

Good work.... Addicts may do anything in the night and common people should suffer, there is no reason to fight against each other to this extent. Elders like Veerendra Hegde Sir or Iddinaba Sir hould take lead and advise this mislead generation and live life peacefully. Hope everyone here understand this.

This is not the way of securing city...this situation is like lockdown not section 144.police and judiciary should wake up now to control crimes by controlling the corruption within the system and this should be a continuous process. Till now criminals with some dozens of murder, dozens of half murders and robbery are roaming freely on bail and still in business. And in jails too ,one can do video calls with anybody and can have good foods due to systems failure.

Simply unwanted torture of public. Just out of covid losses, the district in charge is putting hardship over the public to cover their failures. I hope public also learns a lesson from this
