Bengaluru, Aug 1: Apparently worried over the sharp criticism from opposition leaders as well as civil society activists in the social media and newspapers for visiting only the residence of murdered BJP Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Nettaru while not bothering to visit the houses of murdered Muslim youth Masood and Mohammed Fazil in Dakshina Kannada, of whom were murdered within a gap of 10 days, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday indicated that he would be visiting the houses of the two murdered Muslim youth soon.
Speaking to reporters near his residence in Bengaluru on Monday, the Chief Minister said the investigation into the murder of Praveen was progressing and the process of handing over the probe to the Central National Investigation Agency (NIA) was underway.
“Police have been given a free hand to handle the investigation,’’ he said and expressed confidence that the murderers would be nabbed soon
Bommai said the investigation would be handed over to NIA soon. ``We have informed the NIA informally and they are obtaining information from Kerala and Mangaluru,’’ he said.
Answering questions, he said the birthday bash of Congress Opposition leader Siddaramaiah, being held on a grand scale as Siddaramotsava at Davangere on August 3 would not affect the ruling BJP. “We worship the god Siddarama and the worship is being done daily,’’ he said.
The Chief Minister said the State Government, which had to cancel the Janotsava planned to be held on July 28 at Doddaballapur to mark the first year anniversary of the government on account of Praveen’s murder, is planning to hold district-level Janotsava celebrations.
“The names of districts and other details were being worked out. The plans and details will be announced in the next 3 to 4 days to inform the people of the achievements of the three-year BJP rule in the State, he added.
