Udupi, Aug 1: An unidentified body of a youth was found in an mutilated condition on the railway track near Adishakti temple of Doddanagudde on Monday, August after a train has reportedly brushed past him. A sacred thread was found to be on the deceased's body.
Manipal police station inspector Rajashekar Hondali visited the spot and completed the formalities as per law.
Social worker Nityananda Olakadu helped the police in shifting the dead body from the railway track to the district hospital. The dead body has been kept at the mortuary under safe custody.
Manipal police have directed the relatives of the deceased to contact the citizen's assistance centre to identify the body.
