Bantwal: Brahmarakootlu Shrine Will Continue to Stand – Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat

Bantwal, Apr 6: Save Brahmarakootlu Shrine Committee said that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has agreed not to demolish Bramharakootlu shrine that has been hampering the widening of the national highway 48 between Mangalore and B C Road, and demolition plan of which has encountered stiff resistance. It said that the authority, while agreeing to retain the shrine, has sought grant of Rs 80 lac for deviating from the plan and build road by its side.
The committee leaders gave this information at the valedictory ceremony of the unbroken Bhajana programme held by the committee in the premises of the Brahmarakootlu shrine on Tuesday April 5 evening.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader, Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, speaking on the occasion, stressed that it is the duty of the society and the government to protect worship centres. He said that religion is the soul of India and worship centres symbolise religions. He stressed that Brahmarakootlu shrine will never be allowed to be demolished.
The leaders also read out a letter purported to have been addressed by the authority to the government, seeking an additional grant of eighty lac rupees to build road by the side of the shrine.
It may be recalled that the Ashtamangala divine query organized by the committee some time back, had advised against demolishing the shrine, and sought conducting of 48 days of Bhajans and devotional songs to strengthen the vibes around the shrine.
Bheemeshwar Joshi, managing trustee of Horanadu Annapoorneshwar Temple, presided. Sri Gurudevandnda Swamiji of Odiyoor, Sri Mohandas Swamiji of Sridhama Manila, Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Gurpur Vajradehi Mutt, and K S Nityanand of Vedya Vijnana Mandir of Chikmagalur, delivered benedictory addresses on the occasion.
Litterateur, Erya Lakshminarayan Alva, chairman of Coastal Development Authority, B Nagaraj Shetty, district BJP president, K Padmanabh Kottary, president of the Brahmarakoolu governing council, B Rajashekhar Rai, and president of the shrine committee, Diwakar Shetty Kupila, were present.
