Mangaluru: Infosys employee killed as college bus overturns near Natekal

Mangaluru, Jun 27: An Infosys employee was killed and several college students were injured after a college bus carrying students from Konaje towards Mangaluru lost control and overturned into a roadside drain near the Natekal junction on Saturday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Prajwal Arnold (31), an Infosys employee and a native of Kuvempunagar in Chikkamagaluru.

According to reports, the college bus was overtaking Prajwal's motorcycle near Natekal when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The bus veered off the road, tilted into the roadside drain, and trapped the motorcyclist beneath it.

Members of the public who rushed to the spot immediately brought in a crane and lifted the bus to rescue the rider. Prajwal, who had sustained grievous injuries, was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Several students travelling in the bus also sustained injuries in the mishap.

A large number of people gathered at the accident site, resulting in traffic disruption for some time.

Police visited the spot and investigated the incident.
