Fight Against Corruption: IDA, SDPI Come Forward in Support of Hazare

Mangalore, Apr 8: Activist Anna Hazare's clarion call against corruption is fast gaining momentum, and the lastest to join the fight are Mangaloreans.
On Friday April 8, members of Dakshina Kannada branch of Indian dental association (IDA) took to streets in support of Hazare, and submitted a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, through additional DC Prabhakar Sharma.
The memorandum urges the Prime Minister to meet the demands made by Hazare and states that every effort should be made to pass the Jan Lokpal Bill.
Dr Rajendra Prasad, dean of AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Dr Sanjay Nayak and Dr Shivsharan Shetty, secretary of DK IDA branch spoke on the occasion.
President of the association Dr Shubhan Alva, vice-presidents Dr Riaz Abdulla, Dr Shishir Shetty, executive committee members Dr Prashanth Shenoy, and others were present.
Dental students from in and around the city participated.
Meanwhile, the members of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) also expressed their support to the cause.
Speaking on the occasion SDPI district president Abdul Jaleel said that corruption has pervaded every level of administration and has become a part and parcel of life. It has ruined our image as a nation, and there is an urgent need to bring in more transperancy and accountability by making sincere efforts to strengthen the civil society, he said.
SDPI vice-president M Nasir and secretary Saleem G Kere were present.
