Cairo, April 10 (IANS) Forty two people were arrested during turmoil at central Cairo's Tahrir square in Egypt Saturday, Xinhua quoted Egypt's Supreme Council of Armed Forces as saying.
The arrested individuals include eight people, who were wearing army uniforms, and three foreigners, the council stated, adding that it intends to clear the square to restore normalcy.
Thousands of Egyptian protesters returned to Tahrir Square Saturday morning. Some of them tried to set up tents inside the square.
They called for the formation of a civil presidential council to manage the country in the transitional period until a new constitution was issued and the presidential and parliamentary elections were held.
Egypt's Ministry of Health earlier confirmed that one person was killed and 71 others were injured in the turmoil on the Tahrir square.
