Kundapur: Theft at house of family on pilgrimage – Accused held using modern tech

Kundapur, Aug 11: Police used modern technology and arrested accused who allegedly stole golden ornaments and cash from the house of a family who had gone on a pilgrimage.

The arrested accused is identified as Subhashchandra Acharya (40), a resident of Ashirvada Mane, Sadhana Road, Maravanthe Post, Byndoor.

Police recovered one golden bracelet weighing eight grams, one rope chain with a pendent weighing 12 grams, one golden finger ring weighing four grams having a white stone, one finger ring golden of three gram having green stone and Rs 1,610 in cash.

The theft occurred at the house of Manjunatha Jogi, a resident of Vinayaka Nagara of Kumbashi between July 29 and August 5, when the family had gone on a pilgrimage to Pandaripura and Shirdi. The total worth of golden ornaments stolen is Rs 1.20 lac and Rs 13,500 in cash.

Kundapur station ASI Prasad Kumar K, investigation PSI Sadashiva R Gavaroji led the team of police personnel in this operation.
