Mangaluru, Aug 16: " The government should ban organisations like Popular Front of India (PFI) and the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), because it will be a threat to the future of the society,"  said Deviprasad Shetty, divisional secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

Addressing a press meet here at the Vishwa Hindu Parishad office on Tuesday, August 16, he said, " Veer Savarkar was a freedom fighter who was in prison for too long years. Nowadays, a few people are insulting the great personality of his, including the Congress leaders. Former chief minister Siddaramaiah is also commenting against him. Moreover, irrespective of religion, caste, and faith, we should always remember the great leaders who sacrificed their lives for the country. We also condemn PFI and SDPI for insulting Veer Savarkar in Shivamogga. They should be arrested on charges of sedition and be sent to jail.”

He also said that "any Muslim organisation which comes forward and favours a ban on PFI and SDPI, we will support them because we see them as a threat to future of our society.”

Answering media queries regarding the murder of Fazil, he said that "VHP does not defend any acts of murders. But, after the death of a BJP activist and due to outrage it might have happened."

District president of VHP Gopal Kuthar, divisional convener of Bajarang Dal  Bujanga Kulal, the district convener of Bajrang Dal Punith Athavar were present.
