Beltangady: College student dies after motorcycles collide head-on

Beltangady, Aug 30: A college student died as two motorcycles collided head-on at Punjalakatte on Monday, August 29.

The deceased is identified as Shafique, son of Aboobacker, a resident of Karaya in the taluk and second year degree student of St Aloysius College, Mangaluru.

Shafique was moving from Karaya to Mangaluru on his motorcycle. He crashed onto another motorcycle near Sharada Mantapa of Punjalakatte. Two labourers who worked in a vegetable shop in Madanthyar were on the other vehicle.

Punjalakatte police visited the spot and registered a case.

    Motor bike at younger age is a nice thing to have but one should consider lucky to be surviving those years on roads... I too had several trendy bikes in 1980s and had more than half a dozen near fatal accidents... Age is such where no one can convince about relative safety... RIP to the young soul... May God Grace courage and strength to the loved ones...

    RIP....cannot help when we live in third world countries...every time we venture out on the road...without footpaths and full of potholes...no sense of driving...accidents are bound to happen..corrupt traffic police is busy making money...no one gives any damn to unscientific bends, no warning boards, no zebra markings, no markings on humps...pathetic...

    Can not blame Govt , or Traffic police or Road condition or Rain, road users must aware of all problems before starting driving in such roads.
