Speaking to Daijiworld, Leslie Rego, convener of United Youngsters, who is also compering the event, said that honouring three eminent personalities—Lawrence Pinto from Kuwait, Leo Rodrigues from Abu Dhabi, and Felix Lobo from Doha, Qatar—was a dream of Wilfy’s which could not be fulfilled during his time. They have been great supporters of Wilfy’s compositions and his musical nites and of more significance is their support to Wilfy during his last days. Apart from this, these three personalities have contributed immensely to the community as a whole.

Leo Rodrigues, a well-known entrepreneur from Abu Dhabi, is a supporter of Konkani culture and language besides being a community leader. He has led the Konkani Cultural Organization (KCO) for two terms in Abu Dhabi and is also a recipient of ‘Rachana NRI Entrepreneur of the Year 2009’. He has been helping and supporting Konkani events around the Gulf and Mangalore.
Felix Lobo, an entrepreneur from Doha-Qatar, is the person responsible for registering the word ‘Konkani’ with the Qatar government so that Konkani events are organized in Doha without any legal problems. He has successfully led the Mangalore Cricket Club for 13 years and is now patron of the Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA) which is hosting the ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore – 2012’. A great fan and supporter of Wilfy Rebimbus, he is responsible for hosting many Wilfy Nites as well as Konkani programmes in Doha in the past.
