Karnataka stands second at all India level in farmers’ suicide

Bengaluru, Aug 31: In 2021, 10,881 farmers committed suicide throughout the country. While most of them were from Maharashtra, second highest were from Karnataka. It is noticeable that West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkand and Odisha did not have a single suicide by farmers.

Out of the 10,881 farmers who killed themselves, 5318 were agriculturists, while 5563 were agricultural labourers. It means that more than the owners, the workers have died.

Out of the total farmers who killed themselves 37.3% are from Maharashtra, 19.9% are from Karnataka, 9.8% from Andhra Pradesh, 6.2% from Madhya Pradesh and 5.5% from Tamil Nadu. Out of the 5318 agriculturists who killed themselves, 5107 were men and 211 women. Out of the 5563 agricultural labourers who committed suicide, 5121 were men and 442 women.

In 2021, 16,4033 people killed themselves throughout the country. Out of this, the number of daily wage labourers is 37,751 followed by self-employed at 18, 803. The number of the unemployed farmers who committed suicide is 11,724.

Out of the 1.64 lac suicides in 2021, 45,026 are by women. There are 1898 government employees, 11,431 private workers and 2541 government undertaking company staff members. The percentage of people whose income is less than Rs 1 lac per annum is 64.02% while 31.6% had income between Rs 1 lakh to 5 lac per year.

    Actual workers of the land is dying and some are behind savarkar!! each death due to hopelessness and helplessness is bound to haunt the land of so called hinduthwa workers ! change is immanent in mind. Do not vote for the mind killers...be the worker not the saav arkar!
