Bantwal: Lacs worth of goods gutted after lightning strikes house

Bantwal, Aug 31: There was a strike of lightning on a house on August 30 late night at Punkedadi, Maninalkuru here.

Lacs worth of belongings in the house and vessels of catering business were gutted.

The mishap occurred in the residence belonging to Lokesh Poojary of Punkedadi. There was no loss of life as the inmates were sleeping in a nearby house.

All the electronic gadgets including TV, fridge, grinder, clothes, house documents, cash of thousands of rupees, vessels of catering business run by Lokesh and other goods totally worth about Rs 10 lacs were destroyed.

The inmates heard a loud thud at about 2 AM. They saw fire when they came out of the house.

Revenue inspector Janardhan J and village accountant Chennabasappa visited the spot and submitted a report for compensation. MLA Rajesh Naik has directed for suitable action.

Maninalkur Gram Panchayat president Nagaveni, members Kanchalakshi, Santappa Poojary, Shivappa Poojary, taluk panchayat standing committee former president Sampath Kumar Shetty, Sarapadi Ashok Shetty, Shashikanth Shetty Arumadi, Ravindra Shetty, Seetharama Poojary, Sanjiva Poojary, Keshava Poojary, Lokanath Dechar and others visited the spot and conducted inspection.
