Kundapur: Illegal mining - Four trucks, sand, red stones confiscated

Kundapur, Sep 5: The department of Mines and geology department officials raided two spots in the taluk and confiscated four trucks, eight metric tonne sand and 14 metric tonnes of red stones.

According to the tip off given by public on September 3 night, raid was carried out early in the morning on Sunday September 4 at Battekudru vicinity of Haklady village on the banks of Chakra river by geo scientist Sandhya, under the guidance of senior geo scientist Sandeep G U. The officers confiscated one truck and eight metric tonne of sand.

In another case, according to the tip off given by public raid was conducted at Aloor village of the taluk in the morning and three trucks and 14 metric tonnes of red stones were confiscated.

The trucks, sand and stones are kept in Gangolli police station for further legal action.

    Absolutely rubbish policy, the govt at various places has installed dredging machines to mine sand which not only kill all fishes but also create a depression in river bed. But when common man mines sand theough boats they are raided & caught & seized. Contracts have been handed to lawyers cum businessmen beside highways with monthly payoffs

    Human beings will never realize the real loss in the face of worldly profits until the time ground gets erased under their feet... Once in a while there will be raids and arrests... For every honest officer there will be multi fold corrupt in the system... We all know the situations in each of our society, be it Mangalore or Udupi or Kundapura... Nothing will ever change until nothing may remain...

    Very Funny Sand mining is ban in UDUPI since June for 4 to 5 month. Daily sand transportation is going on(ITS JUST A DRAMA) One thing is strictly implemented in KUNDAPUR that is You cant ride by bike or scooter with out Helmet or Mirror glass
