Bantwal, Sep 8: The Central NIA police team raided SDPI activist Riyaz Farangipete’s house in Parlia on B C Road near Kaikamba, early in the morning on Thursday September 8.

The NIA police personnel had raided houses of prominent SDPI leaders and other organisations at 33 locations spread all over Dakshina Kannada district two days ago and taken into custody various papers and records in the light of Bellare resident Praveen Nettaru's murder.

The NIA police inspected the documents related to SDPI leader Riyaz this morning. At the same time, SDPI activists shouted 'go back go back' slogans and staged a protest against the raids and the NIA police. More than 50 SDPI activists took part in the protests.

As a security measure, Bantwal town police under the leadership of sub-inspector Avinash rushed to the spot and thereafter the activists stopped their protests and got into a huddle.

Only after the probe against Riyaz is completed will the actual reason be known and the scope of the investigation.
