Mangaluru: Attempt to murder case – Accused sentenced to 3 years imprisonment

Mangaluru, Sep 10: Justice Jakati of third additional district and sessions court of the city sentenced three accused in an attempt to murder case to three years of simple imprisonment and slapped Rs 1000 fine on each of them.

Accused Prasanna Kumar, Jayanti Suvarna and Raksha Suvarna tried to kill Vasanatharaja Shetty, resident of Kontadka in Niddodi village of Moodbidri taluk over property dispute.

The accused trio entered the compound of Vasantharaj Shetty with the intention of killing him and threw stones, abused and viciously attacked him.

Police subinspector of Moodbidri police station had filed charge sheet in the court. Accused were slapped Rs 500 each as fine under column 447 of IPC, three years of simple imprisonment under column 326 and Rs 1000 fine, six months simple imprisonment under column 504 and three year imprisonment under column 307 and fine of Rs 1000 each.

Judge ordered to pay Rs 6000 compensation to Vasanthraj Shetty in the money that will be collected as fine.

Public prosecutor Narayana Sherigar argued for the prosecution.
