Washington, Apr 21 (PTI) US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has asked President Barack Obama to grant non-lethal aid of USD 25 million to the Libyan opposition who are fighting to oust the Muammar Gaddafi regime.

"We are moving to authorise up to USD 25 million in non-lethal commodities and services to support the Transitional National Council and our efforts to protect civilians and the civilian populated areas that are under threat of attack from their own government in Libya," Clinton told reporters.

"Now the USD 25 million in goods and services will be drawn down from items already in government stocks that correspond with the needs that we have heard from the Transitional National Council," she said.
