Bantwal, Sep 13: Upgraded government higher primary school of Mittur near Vittal in the taluk bought a school bus from the revenue it earned through the sale of arecanut grown on its land.

This school which has the history of 112 years, has four acres of land. In 2017, SDMC, teachers and villagers planted 628 saplings of arecanut. Now they are getting the yield. The farm of school is outsourced. The school gets Rs 2.50 lac income yearly.

A 26-seater bus is bought for the school to bring students to school. Maintenance of the bus will be managed by SDMC from the income of arecanut farm itself.

Great news indeed. A government school becoming self reliant and able to provide own bus for the kids from poor families is a good news. This news should come in national media so that others also get inspired by this.....

At least very good initiative taken by school management instead of putting more burden on parents with heavy fees.

This Village name itself gives great meaning in Tulu (ಮಿತ್ತ್ + ಊರು), Mitt means high + ooru means place. if we put together it gives the meaning a high place... the people of that area including teachers have done great job. hats off to all of them.
