Mumbai, March 11: Billava Jagruthi Balaga Women's wing celebrated International Women's day at Chembur Shivaswamy hall on Sunday, March 8.
BJP national working committee member and well known youth social worker Shaina N C inaugurated the celebrations and called on women to unite and go for determined efforts for their well being. She said that the achievements of Mamatha Poojary is the inspiration for them.
Balaga president N T Poojary presided over the programme. Women's wing president Sharada S Karkera, honorary secretary Rekha Sadanand, Kripa Bhojaraj and others were present on the dais. Billava society twinkling star, national women's Kabaddi team leader, national Ekalavya and Arjuna award winner and Karnataka state Rajyotsava award winner Mamatha Poojary was felicitated by Balaga president N T Poojary on the occasion. Her husband Abhishek Kotian also was honored on the occasion.
Founder president Sooru C Karkera, honorary president Suresh S Poojary, D B Amin and Purushotham Kotian, honorary chief secretary Keshava K Kotian, Treasurer Padmanabha S Poojary, women's wing Assistant secretary Santhoshi Suresh Poojary, K Bhojaraj, Laxmana Poojary, Harish G Poojary, Ramesh Poojary Nerul, N P Suvarna, Chitrapu K M Kotian, Girish B Salian, office bearers of the Balaga, members and office bearers of Tulu Kannadiga associations present on the occasion honored Mamatha Poojary.
Mamatha Poojary speaking on the occasion, said that she is happy with the celebrations and the felicitations. She said that women can achieve anything if she works hard towards her goal.
Sharada Karkera in her key note address said that women should prepare themselves for their justified role. The women become stronger with the yearly celebrations. It should not be a one day affair but should be daily one, she said.
Women's wing honorary secretary Rekha Sadanand welcomed. Pooja Purushotham Kotian, Tara Somanath Kukyan and Veda Suvarna led the prayer. Lathika Ameen introduced the guests, compered the programme and proposed vote of thanks.
As part of cultural programme, Jagruthi Balaga women's mandala members presented variety entertainment programme. Kalajagathu Mumbai group enacted 'Moksha', a Tulu drama written and directed by Thonse Vijayakumar Shetty.
