Crossing frontiers: Frontline Logistics expands to 6 countries, and more

Media Release

Kuwait, Jul 17: It was a quiet winter morning, in the year 2009, when four young family members – B P Nassar, Afsal Ali, Anwar Ali and Mustafa Kari sat on a tiled floor in a Kuwait apartment asking a question - what next? Depression was sinking in and to get good jobs was a difficult task. While the family was blessed with entrepreneur’s blood, only one of them, B P Nassar, who is now the regional director of the Group, had a few years of experience in logistics, while the rest of the team, now directors, were totally new to the country and to the industry. Joining them in deliberation was Febina Nassar, giving quiet support and encouragement to the thought process, when Nassar came up with the idea that logistics was going to be their vision and mission for the future, which was agreed by all.

Thus born Frontline Logistics in Kuwait in the year 2009 with one lady and four men as mentioned above, making a quiet start with a simple mission, to make a difference in the industry with the catch phrase 'Services Unlimited'. Warnings were plenty from friends and foes - 'This is not the right time to start a new company... This is going to be a huge failure...'etc. But the young team, with the combined average age of 26 at that time, had their mind and plan set to what has to happen next.

Success in Kuwait within the first year, in freight forwarding activities, as well specialty product that Frontline Logistics could develop in a special way, that is Iraq Logistics was such a success that taff strength in Kuwait was almost touched hundred within the third year. “Your Gateway to Iraq” was the tagline with which Frontline Logistics was known, and this service also resulted in Frontline Logistics having its liaison office in Dubai, in the year 2012. This office was supposed to be a support office for Frontline Logistics, Kuwait and Iraq operations. However, the entrepreneur in Nassar made him invite Vivian Castelino, a logistic veteran with 36 years of experience in the region, to join the small Group of three in Dubai in the capacity as group regional manager. He played the second significant step in the further expansion of Frontline Logistics. Along with the ever-smiling, humble management representative, Anwar Ali, these two could create magic in the next three years.

Meanwhile, customer list, specifically, in MNC sector continued. ISO certification was achieved in 2013. Network association with WCA, IAM, C5C and CGLI gave the Group tremendous advantage in dealing with worldwide logistics requirements.

As the proverb goes, 'proof of the pudding is in eating'. Within the next three years, the Dubai staff strength increased to 35, with opening of an office in Jebel Ali Free Zone in the year 2014. What was supposed to be a liaison office, now by itself became a full-fledged multi-task office within a span of three years. Iraq being the main market for Frontline Logistics Services, it was essential that staff under direct control should be placed to supervise all the actions over there and as such, Frontline Logistics was also registered in Iraq in the year 2013, with offices in Umm Qasr, Basra, Baghdad and Erbil with 16 professionals taking care of the business over there.

Vibrant and diverse management team that is now taken care of by Nassar and Vivian (with young and experienced blood) was not satisfied with laurels that was achieved hitherto. And hence Frontline Logistics crossed another frontier in the year 2015, opening offices in Jeddah and Dammam which, within one year, have become self-sufficient, standing on their own, having presently 8 staff members.

Further vision was by now set - To have its offices all over GCC. And as per strategy, new branch office was opened in Doha, Qatar in February 2016 which is already making inroads in Doha logistics industry within the span of 5 months. As an abundant and brilliant thinking of RD, another office was set up at Kunnamkulam, Kerala, India, in January 2016, to help all offices of Frontline Logistics as backend office. Therefore all support activities were transferred from all offices of Frontline Logistics to BEO, thereby creating an efficient control system. With the philosophy that management representatives must be in place in each country, Nassar, Mustafa, Afsal, Rabeeh and Febina were positioned as directors in Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi and India respectively.

As an advertisement claims, Frontline Logistics believes in 'next is now'. Therefore further expansion of offices in Bahrain and Muscat is a matter of time and should be materialized soon.
