Chikkamagaluru: Car driver refuses to give way to ambulance - video goes viral

Daijiworld Media Network - Chikkamagaluru (SP)

Chikkamagaluru, Sep 1: Ambulances have to be given the right of way by other vehicles, and this rule is followed in all the countries including India. However, there have been some perverts who habitually find happiness in violating rules and creating trouble for others.

A video clip in which a car driver is seen to be blocking the way of an ambulance without allowing it to overtake for about ten kilometres has become viral in social media. The ambulance was carrying a patient from here to Mangaluru.

The incident occurred on the road from here to Mangaluru. Because of the callousness of the car driver, the ambulance driver who was in a hurry to reach a hospital at Mangaluru with a patient had to struggle to move ahead freely.

The car driver's inhuman behaviour stands uploaded in different social websites, and most of the netizens who have watched this video clip have expressed their anger at the senseless car drive's attitude.

I saw the video clearly and ambulance driver had a clear way to overtake the car,but he is busy in taking video. If he is taking a patient then he must give concentration only on saving the patients and not recording any video. May be he is trying to give bad impression on taxi drivers

Each and every driver should go to the side to give way to an ambulance. That should become mandatory. In the above case there were many chances where the car driver could stop his car at the side and give way to the ambulance. What if his own member of the family was in the ambulance and in serious condition? Wouldn't he feel or say why this driver is not going to the side to give way to the ambulance? You can see very clearly from the video that he did not care for a dying human being. Instead of justifying. next time right away go to the side and give way to the ambulance. That is humanity.

Where the driver suppose to go into the bushes or into the houses next to the roads? Our roads are badly designed. We cannot expect a driver to give way on a single carriage road. Superate emergency lanes should be provided and then the authorities can fine/suspend the license of the driver who do not give way to the emergency vehicles.

This seems to be some rural area... but just think our "highways" do not have specially designated lanes for emergency vehicles.

The car driver could certainly have slowed for the ambulance to pass. Enough shoulder is visible on certain stretch. Forced discipline by cancelling the licence and banning future licence for another 10 years is the only remedy.

The road is worthy of only one sided traffic. I don't see the driver at fault anyways.

I dont understand how he can give way where there is space on the sides. Why ambulance people are shooting the video looks total conspiracy.

His licence must be cancelled.. It will be a lesson for the rest.. This basic education should start from school how to respect ambulance.. If it was a Vip convoy then he would have stopped in the beginning.

Unfortunately, there is no law to book the cab driver, unless he had a collision with the ambulance.

Thanks common man..giving prefrence to cows more rather than to human-beings.

Let your clan increase to safeguard cattles and worship them regularly. As cow meant to be kamdenu..all it's things are useful for human beings. Drink if possible one spoon of go-mutra daily before sun-rise.

Should have parked car nearby and given way to ambulance. Just a minute of delay eventhough who are in hurry. Mad fellow. A plenty of space available in rare side to give way for ambulance.

The driver's license should be suspended, and make him have a proper test . The test should be a written exam. Exam should be conducted in every language, Person who do not know to read and write should not be eligible for a license.
Even the rules should be strict, for any offence committed , hefty fines should be paid in court or police station.
Traffic police involved in corruption should be immediately sacked. Hope Whole of India develops,
The Government is undertaking several projects in the construction of quality express highways, All the money collected by the fines should be used for maintaining the roads.

RTO in India is the biggest corruption center in India! It will take 6-12 months to get driving license in developed countries. And in India you can get your driving license sitting at home.... !

That is un pardonable by any standard. RTO / Traffic Authorities should cease this car and cancel that driver's licence. He was playing with life of a person which is just unacceptable.

Whi l e the driver may have shown callous attitude, i am not sure how safe it is to drive with a broken windshield. It will take one pot hole to shatter the wind shield with such a big crack. Maintain proper ambulances, pass a law for right of way and things will be smooth sailing.

Hope the patient got necessary care

I think the cab drivers license and taxi permit should be revoked. Such drivers should be kept away from driving and endangering others lives.

Further, such drivers should be named and shamed.

Car driver may not have done it intentionally..When the Car window glasses are up and the air conditioning in on.. With The music or FM at times the driver is unable to hear the siren... These things happen due to heavy traffic and narrow roads... Sad for the person who needs urgent care... Hope public are more alert to such things...
