A Year of Milestones: Daijiworld.com Steps Into 25th Year

 Walter Nandalike

Founder, Editor-in-Chief
Daijiworld.com

On January 14, 2001, on the auspicious occasion of Makara Sankranti, Daijiworld.com went live as a humble local-language website, originally named 'daiji.bigstep.com', during the second anniversary of the Daiji Dubai Konkani Writers’ Forum. Inaugurated by NRI entrepreneur and philanthropist Ronald Colaco, this was the beginning of a journey filled with aspirations and challenges. Today, as we complete 24 glorious years, we reflect on our humble beginnings and remarkable growth.

What started as a small initiative to promote mother tongue, Konkani, soon evolved into a platform catering to the news and information needs of coastal Karnataka’s diaspora. Within two years, the website transitioned from a Konkani literature portal to a full-fledged news and information site, rebranded as Daijiworld.com in 2003. By 2007, the growing popularity and demand for quality news led to its establishment as a private limited company.

Today, Daijiworld.com proudly serves nearly 2 million unique visitors from across the globe, offering local, regional, national, and international news. Our audience transcends barriers of caste, creed, language, and geography, embodying the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the world as one family.

On this auspicious occasion of Makara Sankranti, the Daijiworld team, including management and staff, extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported us through our journey. Your encouragement during both triumphant and challenging times has been our strength. While it is impossible to name every individual or institution, we are deeply indebted to all our patrons, readers, advertisers, sponsors, and supporters who have been part of this journey.

A Year of Milestones and Initiatives

Charity Beyond Dreams

What began as a simple idea has grown into a charitable movement beyond imagination. Over the years, we have facilitated over Rs 30 crore in charitable contributions, connecting donors directly to beneficiaries through our reliable and verified appeal system. Without maintaining any trust or account, this platform has become a beacon of hope for those in need. The generosity of our readers, who contributed selflessly without questioning backgrounds, is our proudest achievement. This mission of compassion continues to inspire us every day.

Social Impact Through Journalism

Our news reports, articles, and investigative stories have reached government officials, departments, and political leaders, holding up a mirror to their work and reminding them of their responsibilities to the public. Impact journalism remains at the heart of Daijiworld, and we are proud of the hard work and dedication of our team in driving social change.

New Initiatives for Aspiring Journalists, Music Producers, and Sound Engineers

To nurture the next generation of journalists, Daijiworld Media is launching a four-month training program for graduates and aspiring journalists. The course will offer practical training in web media, TV journalism, audio-visual content, and social media, guided by our experienced team and guest professionals. We will also cater to enthusiasts in photography and video production.

Certificate courses in music production and sound engineering are also being offered. Interested candidates can reach us at hrdaijiworld@gmail.com or WhatsApp/call us at +91 8147479876.

Introducing Daijiworld’s Movie Production House

We are thrilled to announce the launch of Daijiworld’s movie production house, officially registered with the Karnataka Film Chamber. Our first Konkani movie is in post-production, and on this special day, we reveal its title as part of our milestone celebration.

Daijiworld Films’ debut Konkani movie, Bapachem Putache Navim, is produced by NRI entrepreneur and philanthropist Michael D'Souza, under his vision for the Konkani project. Written and directed by Stany Bela, a well-known figure in Konkani serials and stage shows, the movie marks an exciting chapter in our journey. Further details will follow soon.

Looking ahead, we plan to produce Kannada, Tulu, and Konkani films that resonate with our audience.

Words of Gratitude

To our dearest readers, you have been our greatest strength and inspiration. While our journey has had its share of challenges, every step has been a learning experience. Your guidance, appreciation, and constructive feedback have driven us to continually improve.

We are also deeply grateful to our advertisers, sponsors, marketing partners, and the entire editorial and support team—you are the backbone of Daijiworld’s success.

As we step into this milestone 25th year, we look forward to unveiling many new initiatives and celebrating our silver jubilee with a grand event next year. This journey is not merely a story of success but one of progress, perseverance, and shared vision.

For inquiries or to connect with us, please message us on WhatsApp at +91 6362321633.

Thank you for being part of our remarkable journey. Together, we will continue to grow, innovate, and serve as a bridge connecting people, communities, and hearts across the globe.

Let’s step into the 25th year with renewed energy, unwavering commitment, and a promise to bring you the best!

Congratulations Walter and team. I started reading Daijiworld in 2005. It was just for reading the news articles. I never bothered to look at the comments during those years. All changed with a report on Mangalore homestay attack. Jossey, Flavian, Bhandarkar, Jeevan, Lydia, Cynthia....were very witty and was waiting to read their comments. "Pettada maasada Charbi" could be the most popular comment of all times! Anyways, Daijiworld has become an important part of my day ever since. Congratulations again.

Congratulations for the Silver Anniversary. The reason for the great success is humbleness of founder Walter Nandalike. As I observed since last 22 years after I came to know him, he never changed since day one. He is the one celebrity who is accessible to everyone. The only media which cares for the needy people. Also the real news and support to all the Mangalorean organisations throughout the world without any differentiation based on religion or languages. Kudos to the whole team and hoping for multiple times of success in coming year.

Congratulations Daijiworld for the 25 years of existence, a very important milestone indeed. Standing strong for 25 years with value based journalism in a very fierce competitive media arena is itself a great achievement. Daijiworld has used the Media space to make a good impact on society in many areas relevant to the public. Apart from providing an opportunity to tens of thousands of artists, writers, speakers achievers, et al, to excel, Daijiworld will be remembered for its humanitarian initiatives throughout the year and during the difficult times of Covid 19 . A big appreciation for all the good initiatives to support the people through this impactful forum especially to help the suffering and most needy by bringing together the people of good will to donate generously. I wish you all success in your future endeavours . May Daijiworld continue to make a positive impact on the society in future too through the powerful forum of media.
