Bantwal: Man jumps into river - searches fail to locate him

Bantwal, Nov 9: A youth jumped into river Netravati after keeping his bag near the Penemangalore bridge on Sunday November 8. Search operation was launched thereafter but untill evening he could not be located.

On the basis of documents found inside the abandoned bag, the person has been suspected to be Suchetan (27) from Balnadu Kantila in Puttur taluk.

He arrived at the bridge from a paying guest accommodation at Mangaluru. On Sunday morning, he jumped into the river from the new bridge at Panemangalore. A person who saw this, informed the police. On the basis of Aadhar card and voter ID card found inside the bag, the person who jumped into the river was believed to be Suchetan. His family members were informed and they came to the spot.

Bantwal fire brigade and local divers searched for the person in the river with the help of boat till Sunday evening. But the youth could not be found. Bantwal town police visited the spot and scrutinized the operations.
