Kundapur: Canara Bus Owners' Assn holds silent protest against alleged overcharging at toll plazas

Kundapur, Feb 5: The Canara Bus Owners' Association, along with the Coastal Bus Owners' Association of Mangaluru and Udupi, organized a massive silent protest on Wednesday, February 5 near the Sasthan toll plaza. The protest was against the alleged double charging and unethical practices by KKR Company at the Sasthan and Hejamadi Toll Plazas, targeting private buses.

During the protest, the bus owners submitted a memorandum to Sunil, the manager of the Sasthan Toll Plaza, urging immediate action to address their grievances. The protesters demanded an end to the excessive toll collection and unfair treatment of private bus operators.

The demonstration saw the presence of several prominent figures supporting the cause, including Kishan Kolkebail, Vijay Kumar, Vasanth Shetty, Harish Shetty, Dinesh, Chandrika Vadi Raj, Vivek, Ashir, Shivananda Ganiga, Vital Poojary of the Highway Awareness Committee, and Subhash Shetty Giliyaru.

The protestors emphasized the need for transparency and fairness in toll collection practices, calling on the authorities to intervene and resolve the issue promptly. The silent protest highlighted the growing frustration among private bus operators over the alleged exploitation by the toll management company.
