Bangalore, Sep 22: Not paying heed to noises of dissent emanating from Reddy Brothers and Anant Kumar camps, and unfettered by threats posed to him, state Chief Minister (CM), B S Yeddyurappa, stuck to his stand and inducted six cabinet rank ministers into his ministry. State Governor, H R Bhardwaj, administered oath of office to the new ministers in a simple function held at the Raj Bhavan at 9.30 am on Wednesday September 22, where slogans-shouting crowd cheered the new ministers.
A Narayanaswamy, MLA from Anekal, was the first to be administered oath. C H Vijay Shankar, Mysore MLC, C C Patil representing Naragund constituency, Shobha Karandlaje, Yeshwantpur MLA, V Somanna, MLC, and S A Ramadas, MLA of Krishnarajapura constituency in Mysore, were sworn in as ministers in that order. While V Somanna took oath in the name of the Swamiji of Yediyur Siddalingeshwara Mutt, Ramadas took oath in the name of mother. All others took oath in the name of god.
With this, the ministry of Yeddyurappa has regained full strength. Shobha and Somanna had once earlier, been sworn in as ministers, but had to quit for different reasons. While Somanna, who had jumped to BJP in Operation Kamala, failed to get elected from his constituency in the city on BJP symbol, Shobha was dropped, as the Reddy camp mounted pressure on the CM to do so.
With the swearing-in function, the CM seems to have asserted his authority. Whether that authority remains temporary, will be decided on the basis of developments expected to emerge in the coming days, as several MLAs and camps have been feeling left high and dry with this development, and raring to settle scores for not giving due importance to them.
