Mangaluru, Mar 28: In a major crackdown on drug peddling, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested two youths involved in selling banned narcotics, including hydro weed ganja and charas, to the public and students in Mangaluru.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Taisir Ismail Hussain, 23, a resident of 2nd Cross Road, Subhash Nagar, Pandeshwar, Mangaluru, and Royston Xavier Lobo, 22, a native of Bolangady House, Bantwal, who was currently residing at Motishyam Castle Apartment, Shivabagh, Mangaluru. Acting on a tip-off, CCB police conducted a raid at 5th Cross Road in Shivabagh, where they were found in possession of illegal substances.

The police seized hydro weed ganja, charas, and regular ganja worth Rs 8 lac, along with two mobile phones. The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 9 lac. Investigations revealed that the accused had procured the drugs from Bengaluru and were selling them in Mangaluru with the intent of leading a lavish lifestyle. A case has been registered at Mangaluru East police station.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of police commissioner Anupam Agrawal IPS, with supervision from deputy commissioners of police Siddharth Goyal IPS (law and order) and K Ravishankar KSPS (crime and traffic). The raid was led by CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Nayak, along with police inspector Rafiq K M, PSI Narendra, ASIs Ram Poojary, Sheenappa, Sujan Shetty, and other CCB personnel.
Police have intensified their efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region and have urged the public to report any suspicious activities.
